+ A world of Chaos

The game is set in the year 2058. As Western Europe suffers a total economic collapse and North America is devastated by civil wars, Asia, led by the Republic of China, the Japanese Empire and United Korea, rises as the new global center of power.

Overdrive's action takes place in Paris, France. The city, previously the cultural capital of the world, faces an unprecedented wave of violence. Martial law is declared, but the government lacks the resources needed to control the whole of the city. Thus, some neighborhoods have turned into laweless zones, controlled by warring gangs. Such is the case of the 13th District, where the action is set.

Until recently, the District enjoyed a relative stability due to the uncontested domination of the Red Dragon gang, led by Mao Fu, over all the other significant gangs. However, this leader's brutal killing by an unnknown assassin has just been announced and the struggle for power begins anew.

Four major gangs are engaged in the battle: The "Red Dragon" syndicate is challenged by the lawful "Knights", the rampaging "'Hoods" and the mysterious "Rippers".

Players may join one of these four gangs to make their way in the post-apocalyptic world of Overdrive.

Citation

Overdrive will be an exclusively multiplayer game, and will be playable over local area networks (LAN) as well as over the Internet.

So far, there are two planned game modes (see the note on the right). One of those is team-based, the other is more of a free-for-all.

+ Road Rage

In this team-based game mode, the player must win a race. Score points are gained based on position and on the number of kills. The gang with the highest score wins the game.

Players can pick up power-up items to boost their weapons and stats.

+ Arena

In this free-for-all, the players duke it out in a closed Arena.

Last player to be alive wins the round!
